Our little Evan looks so sweet when he is sleeping. If only he would do it more at night.

St. Patrick's Day Surprise!

Here is the story of the day Evan was born. I had been having contractions since the weekend but nothing consistent so I figured I still had some time before he was born. However, Evan had different plans. Around 2:00 on Tuesday, March 17th my contractions began coming about every 8-10 minutes. I didn't worry too much but decided to call Aaron to put him on alert. He decided it would be best if he went ahead and came home.

By the time he got home my contractions were coming every 6-7 minutes so I decided it was time to finish packing the last few parts of my hospital bag. Thankfully my mom and sister came over to help. Aaron and I left for the hospital around 6:00 but after the long labor I had with Sarah I was fully expecting to be sent home.

Imagine my surprise when the nurse told me I was dilated to a 4. I couldn't believe I had made it to a 4! I was so proud of myself because I had been tolerating the pain very well. The nurse took us to a room around 7:15 and got us settled. By the way, my nurses were absolutely fabulous!!!!!I was offered an epidural and of course immediately accepted. 20 minutes later I was feeling no pain but lots of excitement.

From this point on this went very quickly. At 9:00 I had progressed to a 7. I can honestly say that I was not ready for this to be happening so fast. I wanted a little more time but I wasn't going to get it. The nurse kept telling me to take a nap but I was moving along so fast there ended up not being an opportunity to take one. By 11:00 I was a 10 and ready to push.

The nurse began to get the room ready. This actually takes a little while so I didn't actually start pushing until 11:30. Thankfully I only had to work on that for about 20 minutes. Little Evan came out screaming! Aaron had a huge smile on his face and I cried. I think I was in shock for a while that everything had happened so fast.

Now we are home and trying to adjust to our new life. Things are definitely different and I will admit that I am scared of what each day will bring. However, we are truly blessed. God has given us two healthy beautiful children, each other, wonderful family and great friends. I will post more soon on how things are progressing.

Sarah's first dentist visit

Today we took Sarah to her first dentist visit. I was very excited because I was able to take her to the dentist I used when I was little. He was an excellent dentist and I give him credit for keeping me cavity free for almost 25 years.
Sarah couldn't have been a better patient. I was so proud of her! They didn't do a full exam since it was her first time and she is so young. The hygienist was so sweet and let Sarah touch all the tools before they used them. They counted her teeth and said they looked healthy. She got a new toothbrush with a neat cover. Before we left she got to visit the treasure chest because she was such a good girl. There were bracelets, pencils, temporary tattoos, bouncy balls and other little plastic toys. She chose a bouncy balls which really surprised me because I would have thought the bracelet would have been her first choice.
As a treat I took her to Toys R' Us afterward so that she could pick out a prize. I know she got one at the dentist office but I was just so excited that she did so well.
